ARTIST STATEMENT

I am an Oslo-based French and Trinidadian artist and scenographer interested in exploring the relationship between ecology, time, identity and kinship, and the narratives these create in relation to living beings (human and non-human).

My research-based practice is both narrative and participatory: I work with imagination, world-building and discussion through collective story-making & story-telling. I use this as my framework to explore imaginations of sustainable futures, together with other beings, with an emphasis on social and climate justice.

I am inspired by post-humanistic theories, decolonial æsthetics, black and eco-feminism among other thoughts. This, together with my own artistic practice, creates a variety of project-based artworks that act as communication capsules for my research. These can take the form of storytelling performances, publications, films and installations. My current research project explores generational knowledge through participatory and ritual practices for collective discourse on hybrid identity and the generational knowledge that living beings inherit from past generations.
